Activities & Events

At Tabley we offer a wide range of activities to cater for all tastes and interests. We regularly hold meetings with all the residents to ask their preferences and keep them informed of future events.

We also distribute a newsletter publishing the dates of forthcoming events so that they are able to choose which interest them.

Below are some of our recent activities

  • Shopping trip to the supermarket
  • Exercises with Mike & Mary
  • Assorted trips in the minibus including regular visits to the library, Starbucks, local gardens and to the seaside (weather permitting!) as well as individual and group trips to the local shops
  • Entertainment with Mike who will sing songs from the Good Old Days.
  • Wine tasting
  • The Gin & Tonic club
  • A Holy Communion service
  • Crafts with Sheila Draycott
  • A Flower demonstration by Jane Green
  • In-house activities including bridge, card games, board games, bingo, quizzes, crosswords, reminiscing, croquet, bowls and chairobics.
  • Having the neigbours round for drinks

A typical month at Tabley House could include some of the following activities:

Art TherapyArt Therapy

Giving residents the opportunity to be creative and express themselves.

Craft Sessions

Using a very wide range of materials and textures.

Flower Arranging

A variety of ladies demonstrate their floristry talents.

Music Sessions

Entertainers coming in and performing for the residents’ music of their era

Quiz / Card Afternoons

Afternoons spent playing Scrabble, Bingo and Crosswords. Playing Whist, Bridge, Uno etc.

Personal Care

Manicures and hand massage.

Chairobics

Physical activity to music while seated. Ball games such as skittles and catch, target practice on a mat using bean bags. Hula-hoop.

Film Sessions

On a rainy day, a variety of videos are available for viewing.

Outdoor and Nature

Visits to the Tabley Tea Room. Walks in the grounds of the home, orelaxing outdoors when the weather is nice. Awareness of the various wildlife and birds around the garden and the variety of trees, shrubs and flowers.

Outings

Days out to various places of interest, pub lunches, shopping trips, theatre outings, afternoon tea at the garden centre.

Resident Meetings

We hold a quarterly residents' meeting which is attended by staff, residents and relatives. Residents are given the opportunity to discuss any issues that may have arisen. To view the minutes from the last meeting please click here.

Annual Events

Seasonal engagements. Barbecues, planting spring bulbs, making Christmas cards,

Participating with residents to in important social events; State Funerals, Weddings, World Cups, Olympics etc.

We embrace themes to include the residents in what is going on around us; Halloween, Easter, Christmas, etc.

Charity events – Sale of Christmas cards for ‘RNLI’, ‘British Heart Foundation’, Guide Dogs for the Blind.
